"가짜 바이러스에 속지 마세요."
보안업체 뉴테크웨이브(대표 김재명, www.viruschaser.com)는 3일 블로그와 게시판을 통해 'Life is Beautiful'이라는 바이러스가 급속 전파 중이라는 가짜 게시글이 확산되고 있다고 경고했다.
이 게시글들은 "이메일로 받은 파워포인트슬라이드(PPS) 그림파일을 열면 컴퓨터 상의 모든 자료를 잃고 이름, 이메일 주소, 비밀번호 등의 개인정보가 유출된다"는 내용을 담고 있다.
하지만 이는 혹스(Hoax)로 불리는 가짜 컴퓨터 바이러스다. 혹스는 이메일·인터넷 메신저·문자메시지 등에 거짓 정보나 괴담을 실어 사용자를 속이는 것을 말하며 '행운의 편지'처럼 다른 사용자들에게도 전파할 것을 조장하기도 한다.
뉴테크웨이브 기술연구소 최재혁 팀장은 "혹스 메일을 받거나 게시물을 보게 되면 현혹되지 말고 백신업체에 문의하는 것이 가장 좋은 대처법이다"라고 조언했다.
'혹스' 이메일의 원문 내용 Subject : I M P O R T A N T W A R N I NG ! Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, and so on. This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton. Please send it to everybody you know who has access to the Internet. You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail with a Power Point presentation "Life is Beautiful". If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying "It is too late now; your life is no longer beautiful" Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail, and password. This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday after-noon. AOL has already confirmed the severity and the anti-virus software's are not capable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself "life owner". PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS and ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY ! |
